Community

Zion’s vision is to be “in mission for others,” and we strive to do this in many ways.  Here are some of the ways you can help serve your community through Zion:

House of Blessing

Each week we collect food offerings for one of our local food banks, the House of Blessing.  The weekly bulletin can tell you what House of Blessing needs most.

Friendship Meal

Part of a Stratford-wide ministry with other churches to provide hot wholesome meals for those in our community who need food and friendship.  Zion’s meal is the last Friday of each month.  We serve on average 70-90 people.  Please contact Jean Widmeyer if you’d like to help with this very worthwhile project.

Relay for Life

Each year Zion’s congregation enters a team in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.  For further information, please contact Carrie Wilson.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Zion members gather weekly on Mondays from 2 to 4 PM to use their knitting and crochet skills to create “prayer” shawls.  These lovingly created shawls go to local nursing homes, palliative care facilities and other places where they bring peace and comfort.  For further information, please contact Nancy Schaff.
